THE TURNER Y-FLYER

MAKES YOU A WINNER EVERY TIME YOU RIG UP

A BOAT BUILT WITH MAXIMUM LIFE, COMPORT, AND PERFORMANCE IN MIND

You can expect years of trouble free sailing in a Turner Y-Flyer. The latest technology in materials, construction and hardware are used to produce the finest Y available.
Most fiberglass sailboats are constructed with fiberglass skin reinforced with wooden supports and stringers . . .Not so with the Turner Y. A Turner boat contains no wooden parts. All core material, supports and stringers are made of an imperious PVC foam/fiberglass composite, so the hull will never have a rot or deterioration problem. The PVC foam used in the skin has also eliminated delamination problems associated with the polyurethane foams. The internal hull structure, also constructed of laminated PVC foam and fiberglass, has been designed for maximum strength and stiffness while achieving desired minimum weight.
Slip resistant surfaces are molded into the floorboard area as well as fore and aft decks. Comfortable hiking is provided on smooth seating surfaces with padded hiking straps. And a Turner boat is also the driest Y-Flyer available. The Turners have developed a cockpit liner, which produces maximum hull flotation even if capsized. The boat will float high and take very little water into the cockpit when righted. Large bailers, located in special wells below the liner, quickly empty any water entering the cockpit. Quality and thoughtful design are evident everywhere on a Turner Y. Even the standard boat incorporates the best hardware available for maximum ease and performance while sailing. Ball bearing blocks are used throughout to assure easy line handling, even in heavy air. All standing rigging, mast, boom, cleats, lines, and the rudder-tiller assembly are of the highest quality, built to withstand many seasons of hard use. And only the most competitive sails are offered on the Turner Y: "sails, which our own experience and that of other successful sailors in the class, have taught us, are the best".
Many options are offered for the racing sailors who want refined sail shape and control. But the purchase of these options is not necessary for highly competitive sailing in a Turner Y. The standard boat has been equipped for maximum performance at a minimum price and has proved to be a winner in many important regattas.

A BOAT FOR ALL REASONS

If you are looking for a popular sailboat, large enough to handle like a true yacht and one that the family and friends can enjoy with you, a Y-Flyer is for you. The Y is one of the most versatile boats available. Her beautiful, long planing design is unmatched for exciting racing and daysailing. Yet because of the super stability and built in safety features the Y can be used as a beginners first boat. The skipper and crew do not have to be athletes; in fact, Y's are sailed competitively in top regattas by many women and children. The Y out maneuvers and outruns most one-design boats you'll find sailing on inland waters. But her stable design, roomy cockpit and clean deck arrangement make daysailing or racing with the family and friends a real pleasure. And Y-Flyers maintain their value for many years. Cared for boats are usually resold for close to the original purchase price.
